Applique strips on a wooden surface in a production environment is performed on the adhesive primer and varnish. Previously, the wooden surface is prepared to execute decorative works.
Grinding. Surface in the manufacture of art products is processed both manually and on a special grinding machine. For manual grinding using thin abrasive paper No. 5-8, wrapped on a wooden or foam block glued with rubber or felt. Polish the surface along the grain of the wood.
Adhesive primer is prepared in klejanke in a water bath. The composition of the soil (1 l): clay joiner — 400 g water — 500 g, aniline dye to make the background color (dark colors) — 8 g, glycerol — 40 g of soap chips — 8 g.
In a suitable volume of capacity, put the glue completely filled with cold water and aged to swell for 6-12 hours. Then a container of glue is inserted into a large container filled with water. Both containers are put on fire.
The glue is boiled until tender, with constant stirring. In the resulting solution is added the dye of the appropriate color, glycerin, soap chips. All the components slowly heat up for 20-30 minutes with constant stirring. The solution should accept the consistency of thick cream on the surface to preserve the shape of the drops and do not spread. The finished solution is filtered through a fine sieve or cheesecloth. The primer is applied by brush or the spray gun on the prepared wood surface with a thin layer, after drying, the surface primed again. Drying time of one layer for 4-5 hours. Layers of carefully manually can be smoothed using fine emery paper No. 0 along the fibers.
Applique "varnish". Preparing the wood surface for application, it is carefully polished in several stages using sandpaper No. 1,2, doing the final finishing with sandpaper No. 0.
To the surface has acquired the necessary color, use different shades of stains, dyes for fabrics, the soil on the basis of PVA glue and gouache.
Stains enhance the natural color of the wood or simulate its fine dark shades. You can use stain dark brown, reddish brown, and greenish colors. Stains are available in water solution, ready to use, or powder. Solutions from the powder dyes is prepared in a small amount of water, heated to 60— 80 °C, stirred with a wooden stick, filtered through several layers of cheesecloth, and then diluted with water to the desired concentration and applied to the surface of the product swab or brush.
The dyes for fabrics of black, yellow, red, blue colours are used for staining. Mixing them in different proportions, you can choose the desired color for the ground.
The soil on the basis of PVA glue and gouache is prepared by mixing 3 parts of gouache and 1 part PVA glue.
To paint smooth before applying the stain or other ground surface slightly moistened with a solution of water with a small amount of glue. After drying, the fibers are removed very fine sanded. The color basecoat is applied on the wooden surface with a brush, foam pad or a roller in 2-3 layers, so that had not the plots. Before applying each subsequent coat, the previous one should be well dried.
After applying the primer the surface is polished again with fine sandpaper and then varnished.

The colored surface covered with varnish. Often used nitro lacquer cold application. To a viscosity of nitro lacquer is adjusted with a solvent. The nitro lacquer have good adhesion in relation to the wood, and against the straw. Adhesion depends on the quality of paint materials and of their compliance with the soil material, from the conditions of application and drying of the coating.
The main method of finishing is varnishing. After drying the last layer with a brush, swab or a pistol-spray nitrocellulose lacquer applied on the surface at least two times. Each layer allow to dry. You must make sure that at one time not twice lakirovkoy the same place. Coating of the adjacent sides, to avoid the formation of drops and stains.
Items from straw ribbon glued on the prepared surface with a mixture of nitrocellulose lacquer and thinner (1 part paint, 3 parts solvent), as one of varnish remain uneven marks on the surface of the product. The solution is applied with a small brush with soft hair on the small of the decorated areas directly under the straw elements.
Now for gluing the straw wizard items, sometimes being replaced by a lacquer solution of PVA glue, which is justified by safety. Sometimes this requires replacing the surface.
