On cold winter evenings it is good to pass the time in the family circle for warming the body and soul a drink. Making coasters out of wire, turn inexpensive glasses into elegant dishes for fruit tea, mulled wine or hot punch. Flat profile wire harness obtained by flattening galvanized wire with a hammer. For greater effect, try using colored glass and copper wire.

MATERIALS
galvanized wire 2.5 mm diameter
glasses

TOOLS
steel plate (flattened wire)
hammer
clippers
pliers with tapered jaws

Put the steel plate on a solid surface and smash it with a hammer a piece of wire. It is more convenient to work with short pieces.

Cut each glass is wire the following lengths: one piece for the top of the rim, one for the bottom (leaving extra length to the ends of the rims overlap each other); four pieces equal to the height of the glass, two short ladders; two pieces for long ladders, which are made from pen (each approximately twice as long as the height of the Cup), and six short — to rung ladders. The length of each ladder add 2 cm to be able to do at the ends of the connecting hooks.

Coasters

First, assemble the two short stairs from four pieces of wire of length equal to the height of the glass. Pliers with tapered jaws bend small hooks at both ends of the longer pieces, then a short connect in pairs long — you will get two short ladders. Pliers to firmly press the ends of the rungs of the ladders around their longitudinal wires.

Coasters

Make two wire-rim: one to the top of the glass, the other for the bottom. Leave the excess wire, it will be cropped later.

Coasters

With pliers bend small hooks at both ends of the long wires for the handle, then with your fingers give them the desired shape. Make sure that both blanks are the same, and connect them to the rungs as the ladder stage 3.

Coasters

Using the glass fitting, attach the top rim of the Cup holder to the handle, passing the ends of the bezel wire through the hooks of the handle. With pliers bend these ends in the opposite side hooks over the handle for a solid connection.

Coasters

In the same way attach the lower end of the handle to the lower rim, cut with wire cutters extra wire at the ends of the rim. The remaining ends tightly squeeze it with pliers for a better connection.

Coasters

In the same way, attach to the rims of the two short ladders. Check that they both were at an equal distance from the handle and from each other, and tightly secure with pliers hooks at their ends.
